A Quaint Sauna nestled
along the shores of Lake Superior, it’s the perfect location – only a short
bike, drive, or walk to Canal Park, situated on a private stretch to Park Point
Beach.

Inspired by having the visiting European teams from the Duluth Vexjo Soccer Exchange be baptised in Lake Superior the Sauna idea was hatched.  The design grew around the use of a large 12’x8’ Lift and Slide door to add a dramatic impact to the design and take advantage of the views.  Many reiterations ensued to create an open and bright feel while incorporating some usable entertaining space for family and friends.  Most of the project’s components were sourced locally or recycled.  Having a creative design group to work with was essential.  Our builder was the craziest you can imagine?  We had t he same drive to make this fun.  The Sauna’s owner works at Heritage Window and Door so all of the components were incredibly artistic and of high quality.  HWD offers performance windows and doors for our unique climate and exposures.  Performance even for a small structure was important because of the proximity to Lake Superior.  Specialty Posoco Flashing and Cat-5 weather resistant barriers were used because of this to make it one tough box.
